Scripture Prayer Cards for Children – Free Printable

(Scroll to bottom of post for download.)

Recently, I had the privilege of contributing to a blog series over at Intentional in Life about Raising Godly Boys.  After some prayer and reflection, I decided to write my post about “Raising Godly Boys with Anxious Little Hearts” because anxiety has been a part of the parenting journey when it comes to raising my own son.

(Those of you who read the blog on a regular basis have already figured out where he gets that tendency from. . . Sometimes, you kinda wish the apple had fallen a little farther from the tree, amen?)

Teach Kids to Pray

I’ve learned a lot through the trial and error of handling my own fears, as well as my sons’. Sometimes I’ve failed miserably at keeping the stress under control.  Other times, God’s grace has picked me up at just the right moment and given the wisdom I need to move forward with faith. I was excited to share theses tidbits of wisdom God has given me over the years in that “Raising Godly Boys” series.

One of the strategies I mentioned in my post for handling our kids’ anxiety was that we should teach them God’s promises.   Give them real truth they can hold onto in their most anxious moments and teach them how to hold onto those truths in prayer.  And that led to a whole new post here on More Like Grace with some Bible verses and prayers we can teach our kids to help them through their big emotions.

Now, I’m really excited to share one more resource with all you mamas.  I designed a set of free printable Scripture cards that list all those Bible promises and prayers for your kids.  There’s a verse and prayer for ten different “big” emotions that anxious kids often face, including things like “When You Feel Worried,” “When You Feel Rejected,” “When You Feel Like You Just Can’t Do It,” and “When You Are Afraid You’ll Make a Mistake.” (And I added a couple of blank cards, with the hope that you and your child can fill in a few verses and prayers of your own.)

We printed the cards off, added them to a simple jump ring, and have them stored in a handy spot where the kids know they can grab them whenever those big emotions come.

My hope is that over time, these promises will be written not just on the cards, but on my kids’ hearts–and that they will go into life with a little more courage knowing what God promises to do for them.

You can download these cards for your own kids right here! I’m praying they’ll bless you with peace in the midst of your next emotional storm.

Hmm . . . I’m not sure exactly what would be causing this problem. I will double-check that things are all in order on this side. You should also receive the cards via an email “receipt” as well. (Sometimes this ends up in people’s “spam” folders since I’m probably not in your address book!) I’ll send a separate email with the document attached just to make sure you get them. Sorry for the troubles!

Hey everyone, Amy here. Just a quick note that yes, there WAS an issue with the file, but I believe I’ve got it all fixed up now. Everything should be in tip-top shape. But if you have any issues, PLEASE let me know! I can always email files if needed.

Hi Amy, I want to thank you so much for these wonderful scripture cards! I gave a set to each of my five grandchildren from seventh grade on up to college. They are all Christians and I know they appreciated them. I also gave to some friends to give to their children or grandchildren. And to top it off, I have used the cards myself when stressful situations have come up. I think most of them are very appropriate for any age. The designs you used are so good. When I cut them up I used my rounded cutter on the four corners and was so happy with the way they looked. It is so generous of you to share them with others.
